Crane Lamp Desk

from 295.00

Walnut, Sapele or Oak timber body, Brass fixings, fabric cable.

Dimensions: 64cm (length) x 11cm (width) x 95cm (height)
Cable length from lamp: 2.5m

The Crane Lamp is a playful, kinetic light that can change dramatically in height and shape.

Crane Lamp Desk extends from 0.45m to 0.95m high simply by lightly pushing or pulling any part of the structure. The scissor structure body of Crane Lamp Desk is composed of 13 hardwood parts, which rotate about one another enabling the lamp to expand and contract. The weight of the lamp is perfectly counterbalanced by the strength of a spring, which ensures that lamp will hold its shape at any height.

The Lamp is available in solid Walnut, Sapele or Oak and is hand finished in oil. The joints are machined from brass and hold the fabric cable in place while the lamp is moving. The lampholder is a brass E27 Edison screw fitting and comes with an E27 filament bulb (as pictured). The lamp will come fitted with a 3 pin UK plug, if you would like a 2 pin US or European plug please send an email to matt@animarodesign.com quoting your order number.

The movable scissor structure form is inspired by the shape of the crane bird extending its neck to catch prey. The lamp seeks to invite play and interaction at a time when mechanical devices are increasingly replaced by digital.
